"The ‘shrinking globe’ means that knowledge, communication, and market opportunities are becoming dislodged from national frameworks and may not fall within the domain of any particular jurisdiction at all. "Secondary Futures is about creating a space to contemplate the future. Together, we need to examine the trends and imagine how the world might be, so that we can help to make more school leavers more successful as they launch from the springboard of secondary education into that future world."Address to Auckland Deputy Principals and Assistant Principals.
"One of the exciting aspects of Secondary Futures to me, is the opportunity to move that passion and commitment away from current concerns and issues and context to thinking about the future - to take that leap into creative futures thinking about New Zealand and New Zealand's future education for secondary age students."Address to PPTA Annual Conference 2004.
